Removal (2.4L)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE (GASOLINE) . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator.
  2. Disconnect vacuum hose at pressure regulator. See Fig 1. Disconnect Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor harness connector. Pull up on injector connector clip and disconnect harness connectors from injectors.

  3. Using a wrench to hold fuel inlet fitting, disconnect and plug fuel inlet line at fuel rail. Remove the fuel pipe retainers. Remove the fuel rail attaching bolts. Lift fuel rail assembly from cylinder head.
  4. Remove the fuel return pipe bracket screw and the bracket. Remove the fuel return pipe from the fuel pressure regulator. Remove the fuel return pipe. Discard the "O" rings. Remove the fuel pressure regulator. Remove the fuel injectors.
