Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the convertible top and place the top on a clean flat surface. Refer to FOLDING TOP REPLACEMENT .
  2. Remove the seal compression panel from the #1 bow. Refer to FOLDING TOP SEAL COMPRESSION PANEL REPLACEMENT .
  3. Using a pair of needle-nosed pliers remove the staples that secure the top cover to the bow.
  4. Fold the top material back.
  5. Remove the tension cable screw and feed the cable out between the side rail and the roof bow.
  6. Remove the fourth right and the left screws attaching the top material to the #2 bow.
  7. Remove the #5 bow weatherstrip. Refer to WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT - FOLDING TOP (FRONT AND CENTER SIDE RAILS)  or WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT - FOLDING TOP (REAR SIDE RAIL)  or WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT - FOLDING TOP (NUMBER FIVE BOW) .
  8. If you are going to reuse the top material mark the location of the material on the #5 bow as a guide for reassembly.

  9. Using a pair of needle-nosed pliers remove the staples which secure the top cover to the bow.
    CAUTION: Refer to SAFETY GLASSES CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  10. Drill out the rivets attaching the top material to the bottom of the rear side rails.
  11. Remove the top material from the #5 bow.
  12. Pull the top material from the rear side rail and from the front of the #5 bow.
  13. Remove the rear side rail weatherstrip and retainer. Refer to WEATHERSTRIP RETAINER REPLACEMENT - FOLDING TOP (FRONT AND CENTER SIDE RAIL)  or WEATHERSTRIP RETAINER REPLACEMENT - FOLDING TOP (REAR SIDE RAIL) .

  14. Drill out the rivets that secure the top cover flaps to the rear side rail.
  15. Drill out the rivets that secure the tension cable flag to the rear side rail.

  16. Remove the screws attaching the rear window support straps to the #4 bow.
  17. Remove the top material.
