Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply a bead of sealant GM P/N 12345097, or equivalent, on the windshield header from 75 mm (3 in) beyond the latches to the corner of the header.
  2. Install a glob of sealant across the top of the side retainers.

  3. Position the weatherstrip on the windshield frame.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the windshield weatherstrip upper retainer center screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the weatherstrip upper retainer center screw to 3.4 N.m (30 lb in).

  5. Reinstall the weatherstrip to the upper retainer center.
  6. Peel the weatherstrip from the upper retainer, working from the outer corner inward, in order to expose the remaining screw holes.
  7. Install the following upper retainer screws:
    • The LH outer and middle screw
    • The RH outer and middle screw

      Tighten 

      Tighten the windshield upper weatherstrip retainer screws to 3.4 N.m (30 lb in).

  8. Insert the weatherstrip into the upper retainer starting in the center and working outwards.
  9. Peel the protective film from the foam tape on the sides of the new weatherstrip, or install two sided tape to the sides of a reused weatherstrip.
  10. Insert the weatherstrip into the side retainer starting at the top and working downward on the LH and RH sides.
  11. Install the LH and RH top corner weatherstrip screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the windshield weatherstrip top corner screws to 3.4 N.m (30 lb in).

  12. Install the lower LH and RH corner push in retainers.

  13. Install the roof panel (coupe) or raise the top (convertible).
