Removal (4.3L)

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Loosen hose clamp on outlet side of Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor. Dislodge air cleaner outlet duct from outlet side of MAF sensor.
  2. Remove air cleaner outlet duct wing nut at throttle body unit. Pivot air cleaner outlet duct/resonator upward at throttle body unit until hinge clip releases from lip on throttle body. See Figure.
  3. Disconnect harness connectors from ignition coil. Slightly twist ignition coil wire at ignition coil. See Figure. Remove ignition coil wire at ignition coil by pulling on the wire boot.
  4. Remove accelerator cable bracket from intake manifold. Remove ignition coil mounting studs. See Figure. Remove ignition coil assembly. Drill and punch out the 2 rivets holding the ignition coil to the bracket. See Figure. Remove ignition coil from bracket.
