Removal (4.3L)

- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Loosen hose clamp on outlet side of Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor. Dislodge air cleaner outlet duct from outlet side of MAF sensor.
- Remove air cleaner outlet duct wing nut at throttle body unit. Pivot air cleaner outlet duct/resonator upward at throttle body unit until hinge clip releases from lip on throttle body. See Figure.
- Disconnect harness connectors from ignition coil. Slightly twist ignition coil wire at ignition coil. See Figure. Remove ignition coil wire at ignition coil by pulling on the wire boot.
- Remove accelerator cable bracket from intake manifold. Remove ignition coil mounting studs. See Figure. Remove ignition coil assembly. Drill and punch out the 2 rivets holding the ignition coil to the bracket. See Figure. Remove ignition coil from bracket.
