Removal & Installation (3.8L)

WARNING: Hot engine coolant may cause severe burns. Although the cooling system has been drained, coolant still remains in the engine water jacket. This coolant will drain with the removal of the knock sensor.

Turn OFF the ignition. Raise and support the vehicle. Drain the cooling system. Locate Knock Sensor (KS) to be removed. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 . Disconnect the KS electrical connector. Remove the KS.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten the KS to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect the KS electrical connector. Lower the vehicle. Fill the cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING under COOLING SYSTEM.
