Installation Procedure

Install the telescope adapter assembly (2) to the jacket assembly.

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the actuator retaining screws (1).
Tighten

Tighten the retaining screws to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
Install the telescope actuator assembly (3) to the jacket assembly.

Install the actuator retaining screws (4).
Tighten

Tighten the retaining screws to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
1. 4.1. Install the telescope drive ball (2).
2. 4.2. Install the telescope drive bolt (1).
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
Connect the cable assembly (2) to the telescope drive motor assembly (1).

Install the following items onto the jacket assembly:
1. 6.1. housing support guide (4)
2. 6.2. shoulder bolt (3)
3. 6.3. compression spring (2)
4. 6.4. retaining ring (1)

Install the driver side knee bolster trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - KNEE BOLSTER in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
Remove J 42640 from the lower steering column trim cover.
Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
