Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra and 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the CNG fuel tank mounting frame into the bed using new mounting bolts.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information in the C/K Pickup service manual.
  3. Fig 1: Identifying Frame Support Bracket Components

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the frame support brackets (4) using new nuts (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 81 N.m (60 lb ft).

  5. Fig 2: Locating Exhaust System Heat Shields

  6. Install the exhaust system heat shields and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the CNG fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Pickup with Type 2 Tank)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Cab/Chassis with Type 2 Tank) .
