Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the wiper motor module assembly. Refer to Wiper Motor Module Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
  4. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4 L.
    5. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TBI mounting bracket to prevent bending the cable housings.
  5. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables.
  6. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to Fluid Filler Tube Replacement (LA1) or Fluid Filler Tube Replacement (LY7) in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.

  7. Disconnect the outlet heater hose (3) from the outlet heater pipe (4).

  8. Disconnect the outlet heater hose clamp using the J 38185  .
  9. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the heater core.
  10. Remove the outlet heater hose.
