Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install a new sealing washer onto the compressor side of the discharge hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Install the discharge hose.
  3. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor discharge port.

  5. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the discharge hose to compressor nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  9. Install the air baffle.
  10. Install the air baffle bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Install a new seal washer to the condenser side of the discharge hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  13. Remove cap or tape from the discharge port on the condenser.

  15. Connect the discharge hose to the condenser.
  16. Install the discharge hose to condenser nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  17. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A  .
  19. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
