Leaf Spring (Single Wheel Spring Assembly): Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 30 other vehicles, including the 2000 GMC Yukon, 2000 GMC Pickup, 2000 GMC Cab & Chassis, 2000 GMC C3500 HD, and 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the spring assembly to the vehicle. See Figure .
- Install the bolt, the washers, and the nut to the spring to front bracket. Do not tighten at this time.
- Install the shackle (3), the shackle to rear bracket bolt, the washer, and the nut. Do not tighten at this time.
- Install the spacer (8).
- Install the NEW U-bolts (1 and 4) to the top of the spring.
- Install the anchor plate (7).
- Install the washers (5).
- Install the nuts (6).
- Tighten the U-bolt nuts in the sequence shown. See Fig 1 . Then tighten the nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
- Adjust the spring height between the top surface of the axle jounce pad and the bottom surface of the frame jounce bracket.
- Tighten the leaf spring to bracket nuts, the leaf spring to shackle nut, and the shackle to bracket nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
