Leaf Spring (Dual Wheel Spring Assembly): Installation

  1. Install the spring assembly from the vehicle. See Figure .
  2. Install the bolt, the washers, the nut to the spring to front bracket. Do not tighten.
  3. Install the shackle (3), the shackle to rear bracket bolt, the washers, and the nut. Do not tighten. See Figure .
  4. Install the spacer (8).
  5. Install the NEW U-bolts (1, 4) to the top the spring.
  6. Install the anchor plate (7).
  7. Install the washers (5).
  8. Install the nuts (6).
  9. Tighten the U-bolt nuts in the sequence shown. See Figure . Then tighten the nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  10. Adjust the spring height between the top surface of the axle jounce pad and the bottom surface of the frame jounce bracket.
  11. Tighten the leaf spring to bracket nuts, the leaf spring to shackle nut, and the shackle to bracket nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
