Installation Procedure

  1. Install the backing plate.
  2. Fig 1: Identifying Wheel Bearing/Hub

  3. Install the wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (Front Wheel Drive/Drum) or Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (Disc and AWD) in Rear Suspension.
  4. Fig 2: View Of Brake Components

  5. Install the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .
  6. Install the park brake cable to the backing plate.
  7. Install the park brake cable (6) to the park brake actuator (5).
  8. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  9. Adjust the brake shoes. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
  10. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (Disc) or Park Brake Adjustment (Drum) .
  11. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  12. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
