Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Fig 1: Locating Torque Converter Cover Bolts (LY7)

  3. Remove the torque converter cover. Refer to Torque Converter Cover Replacement (LA1)  or Torque Converter Cover Replacement (LY7) .
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (LA1) or Starter Motor Replacement (LY7) in Engine Electrical.
  5. Fig 2: Identifying J 43442

  6. Use J 43442 to hold the flywheel.

  8. Remove the torque converter bolts.
