Removal (4.0L)

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  under FUEL SYSTEMS. Remove mounting the 2 mounting nuts from the injector sight shield (top engine cover). Lift the injector sight shield off the mounting studs by lifting at the front of the cover.
  2. Disconnect the Mass Airflow/Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor harness connector. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Remove the PCV valve fresh air tube. Remove the cruise control cable and the accelerator cable from the accelerator controls cable bracket.
  3. Remove the cruise control cable and the accelerator cable from the throttle body lever. Disconnect the idle air control valve harness connector. See Figure. Disconnect the TP sensor harness connector.
  4. Remove the fuel feed and return lines from the retainer on the accelerator controls cable bracket. Remove the transaxle shift cable clip from the accelerator controls cable bracket. Remove the throttle body. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket from the throttle body, if necessary.
