Fuel Pressure Regulator: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . On Aurora, remove rear seat cushion to access battery. On all models, disconnect negative battery cable. Remove mounting the 2 mounting nuts from the injector sight shield (top engine cover). Lift the injector sight shield off the mounting studs by lifting at the front of the cover.
  2. Fuel pressure regulator is located on fuel rail. Clean any dirt from the pressure regulator. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. Remove the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip. See Figure or Figure . Pull and twist the fuel pressure regulator in order to remove the regulator from the fuel rail. Use a shop towel to catch any spilled fuel.
  3. Remove the regulator lower "O" ring. Remove the filter. Remove the regulator upper "O" ring. Remove the back-up ring. Cover the fuel pressure regulator housing in order to prevent contaminants from entering the fuel system.
