Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the rubber plug from the brake hose bolt hole of the brake caliper.

    IMPORTANT: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3).
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Assemble the brake hose bolt (4) and the NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3) to the brake hose (5).
  3. Install the brake hose bolt (4) to the brake caliper (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake hose bolt to 54 N.m (40 lb ft).

    NOTE: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted or kinked after installation. Damage to the hose could result.
    IMPORTANT: Use the stripe on the brake hose in order to align the brake hose with the notch in the brake hose bracket.
  4. Install the brake hose (3) to the brake hose bracket (2).
  5. Install the brake hose retainer (4) to the brake hose (3).
  6. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting end.
  7. Install the brake pipe fitting (1) to the brake hose (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).

  8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)  or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
