Removal & Installation (3.1L & 3.4L)

Remove the throttle control cable bracket from the throttle body. Remove the canister purge valve. Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector. Remove the IAC valve attaching screws. Remove the IAC valve. Remove the IAC valve "O" ring.
CAUTION: The IAC valve may be damaged if installed with the cone (pintle) extended more than 1-1/8" (28 mm). Measure the distance that the valve is extended before installing a new valve. The distance from the idle air control valve motor housing to the end of the idle air control valve pintle should be less than 1-1/8" (28 mm). Manually compress the pintle until the extension is less than 1-1/8" (28 mm).
To install, reverse removal procedure. Install IAC valve using a new "O" ring. The PCM will reset the IAC valve whenever the ignition switch is turned on, then off. Turn the ignition switch on, then off. Start engine and allow it reach normal operating temperature.
