Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, 2002 Oldsmobile Alero, and 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

If you are reinstalling the original sensor, or if you are installing a new sensor without a sealer, coat the threads with Sealer (9985253) or an equivalent. Install the ECT sensor. Tighten the ECT sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector. Refill the engine coolant system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.
