Installation Procedure

  1. If necessary, perform the following steps:

  3. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

  5. Carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Left .
  6. IMPORTANT: Do not remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
  7. Connect the exhaust crossover pipe to the left bank exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (LY7) in Engine Exhaust.

  9. Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector heat shield.
  10. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  11. Install the left bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Left .
  12. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LY7) in Engine Electrical.
  13. Install the assembled powertrain module to the vehicle. Refer to Engine Replacement .
