Removal Procedure

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
- Remove the spark plug wire harness from the thermostat bypass pipe.
- Remove the air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
- Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing.
- Disconnect the left engine mount strut from the engine.
- Remove the heater hose from the bypass pipe.
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe to throttle body nut.
- Use the J 38185 in order to remove the thermostat bypass pipe hose clamps (1,5). See Special Tools and Equipment .
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe to cylinder head nut (3).
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe bolt (4).
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe hose.
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe.
