Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Ensure both the cruise brake switch and stop lamp switches are adjusted properly. Using scan tool monitor BRAKE SWITCH (stop lamp switch) while applying and releasing the brake pedal. Both switch inputs should closely follow one another. If both switches change but not at the same time, adjust switches. See appropriate CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.

To locate an intermittent problem, use scan tool to monitor BRAKE SWITCH with ignition on and brake pedal released. Wiggling wires while watching for a change from RELEASED to APPLIED may locate the area where a circuit fault may exist.
