DTC P0705: Transmission Range Switch Circuit: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The PNP switch is mounted on the transaxle assembly and is a multi-signal switch that indicates gearshift lever position to the TCM. The PNP switch assembly prevents the engine from cranking while in Drive or Reverse. The PNP switch uses four discrete circuits to pull four TCM inputs high in various combinations to indicate each gear range. DTC P0705 will set when the PNP switch indicates an invalid combination. See PNP SWITCH LOGIC  table.
