Diagnostic Procedures
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Start engine. Using scan tool, monitor OSS. Drive vehicle or rotate wheels at more than 3 MPH. If reading is not consistently less than 100 RPM, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If reading is consistently less than 100 RPM, go to next step.
- Check BACKUP fuse (10-amp). If open, replace and retest. If fuse continues to open, check for short to ground in Pink wire between transaxle and underhood fuse block. Disconnect OSS. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using DVOM, measure voltage at OSS connector terminal No. 3 (Pink wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Pink wire between transaxle and underhood fuse block.
- Turn ignition off. Using a test light, connect OSS connector terminal No. 2 (Black/White wire) to battery voltage. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, repair open in Black/White wire between transaxle and ground.
- Disconnect ECM connector J1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between OSS connector terminal No. 1 (Purple/White wire) and ECM connector J1 terminal No. 18 (Purple/White wire). If resistance is more than 2 ohms, repair open in Purple/White wire. If resistance is not more than 2 ohms, replace OSS sensor.
