DTC P0141: Ho2S2 Circuit - Heater Malfunction: Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (HO2S2) is located behind the catalytic converter. The sensor is used by the ECM to determine the oxygen storage capability of the catalytic converter. Due to the location of the HO2S2, a heater element is required to provide additional heat which accelerates sensor activation time. The heater is supplied voltage when the ignition is turned ON and the ECM provides a ground when the conditions necessary to perform the test are met. The ECM will monitor the heater current to determine if the heater is working properly. DTC P0141 sets when the HO2S2 heater current is not within the calibrated range.
