Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Open the endgate.
  2. Remove the screws from the right and left side of the rear bumper fascia at the inboard side of the rear quarter panel, using the J 38778  .

  3. Using J 38778  , remove the push-in retainers from the rear bumper fascia at the rear impact bar.

  4. Using J 38778  , remove the push-in retainers from the rear bumper right and left fascia upper tabs.
  5. Disengage the ball stud on each side of the rear bumper fascia.

  6. Partially remove the rear bumper fascia from the vehicle.
  7. Disconnect the rear parking assist electrical connector.

  8. Remove the rear fascia from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the rear parking assist object sensor from the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Object Sensor Replacement in Rear Parking Assist.
  10. Remove the energy absorber from the rear fascia.
