Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the liftgate hinges to the marked location points on the liftgate, with an assistant.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the bolts to the liftgate hinges, with an assistant.

    Tighten:  Tighten the liftgate hinge bolts to 33 N.m (28 lb ft).

  3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Liftgate .

  4. Connect the liftgate electrical connector.
  5. Install the liftgate latch strikers. Refer to Latch Striker Replacement - Liftgate (Aztek)  or Latch Striker Replacement - Liftgate (Rendezvous) .
  6. Install the liftgate bumper mounting brackets.
  7. Install the liftgate window. Refer to Window Replacement - Liftgate (Pontiac) or Window Replacement - Liftgate (Buick) in Stationary Windows.
  8. Install the upper and lower liftgate trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate (Aztek)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate (Rendezvous) .
  9. Adjust the liftgate as required. Refer to Hinge Replacement - Endgate
