Unsteady engine torque or engine misfires may cause fluctuation in ISS which is used in the calculation of the speed ratio and may set this DTC. Check the engine controller for fuel injector DTCs P0201-P0204 and misfire DTCs P0300-P0304. If any of these DTCs are present, repair the problem first. Clear DTCs and test to verify that engine fluctuations caused this problem. Sudden loss of ISS signal will cause the calculated ratio to be wrong and may cause this DTC to set. To locate an intermittent condition, use a scan tool to monitor transaxle input speed with engine running. Wiggling wires while watching for a change in the ISS parameter may locate the area where a fault in the wiring may lie. Also, note that the transaxle speed sensors have harness internal to the transaxle and may be the source of the problem. Check loose terminal connections at the TCM connector, the transaxle 20-way connector, and the speed sensor to leadframe connector.
