The PNP switch is mounted on the transaxle assembly and is a multi-signal switch that indicates gearshift lever position to the TCM. The PNP switch assembly prevents the engine from cranking while in Drive or Reverse. The PNP switch uses four discrete circuits to pull four TCM inputs high in various combinations to indicate each gear range. DTC P1758 will set when the PNP switch indicates a Drive range when Park or Neutral is observed.
