Circuit Description

The TCC PC solenoid controls the flow of the TCC apply oil to the torque converter. When the TCC PC solenoid is commanded on, it exhausts release oil and allows regulated apply oil to flow to the apply circuit causing the pressure to increase, forcing the pressure plate to engage the converter housing. This causes the turbine shaft to turn at or near the speed of the engine. When the TCC PC solenoid is off, the transaxle and engine turn at different speeds depending on the amount of fluid coupling. When the vehicle is in Park, the TCC slip speed is sampled. If the TCC slip speed is less than a calibrated amount a fail counter is incremented. If a certain percentage of samples have failed, DTC P0742 sets.
