Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The OSS provides transaxle output speed to the TCM. The OSS is a permanent magnet generator. The sensor is located near the output pulley of the transaxle and produces an AC voltage that increases in frequency as the output pulley increases in speed. The frequency produced is directly proportional to the output speed. The TCM then converts this frequency signal into output speed. For this DTC, the TCM samples the output speed every 25 milliseconds and if it detects an unrealistic drop in output speed, DTC P0723 sets.
