To locate an intermittent condition, use a scan tool to monitor ISS with the engine running. Wiggling wires while watching for a change in the ISS parameter may locate the area where a fault in the wiring may lie. Also, check loose terminal connections. DTC P0716 can set due to the following:
- Intermittent open anywhere in the ISS circuit.
- Intermittent short to ground or short to voltage on ISS high (1230) or low (1231) circuits.
- Loose sensor.
- Electromagnetic interference caused by high current carrying wiring routed near ISS sensor wiring.
- ISS resistance at 77°F (25°C) = 1000-2000 ohms.
