Brake Warning Indicator
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The IPC illuminates the brake indicator when the following occurs:
- The body control module (BCM) detects that the park brake is engaged. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the BCM requesting illumination. If the vehicle is shifted out of park with the park brake engaged and a class 2 message is received indicating that the vehicle speed is greater than 3 MPH, the BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate the audible warning.
- The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
