Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn LW200, 2002 Saturn L200, and 2002 Saturn L100. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

If DTC P0336 is also present, diagnose that DTC first. See DTC P0336: CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT  .

An intermittent short to voltage on Brown/White wire can set this DTC. A direct short to voltage on Brown/White wire will set DTC P0340, as there will be no change in cam signal input. If a short to voltage occurs on Brown/White wire, CALC COMPRESSION OUTPUT on scan tool will read 00001111.

Ensure cam signal out circuit is clear of EMI. Route harness away from battery cables and attach with proper clips and retainers.

Too many cam pulses without a cylinder misfire may not affect engine operation.
