Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

- The control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
- A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
- A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other emission related diagnostic.
- Clear the MIL and the DTC with a scan tool.

The glow plugs can only be commanded ON once per ignition cycle. Turn the ignition OFF and ON to command the glow plugs ON each time with a scan tool.

The DMM and test leads must be calibrated to 0 ohms in order to prevent misdiagnosis. Use the DMM to perform this test. Refer to the DMM User Manual for calibration procedure. Measure the resistance between the affected glow plug terminal of the glow plug and a good ground on the engine with a DMM.Does the DMM display a resistance below the specified value? |
