Differential Side Bearings Replacement (9.75 Inch Axle): Notes

Tools Required

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the differential assembly. Refer to Differential Replacement (8.6 Inch, 9.5 Inch Axles) , Differential Replacement (9.75 Inch Axle)  or Differential Replacement (10.5 Inch, 11.5 Inch Axle) .
  3. Remove the differential side bearing by performing the following steps:
    1. Install the J 45711  (2) and the J 36597  (1) as shown.
    2. Remove the differential side bearing using the J 45711  and a hydraulic press.

    IMPORTANT: Mark the inboard shims left or right.
  5. Remove the inboard shims.
