Transmission Rear Oil Seal (NV4500 & ZF S6-650): Removal

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove the rear propeller shaft. See appropriate DRIVE SHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS article in DRIVE AXLES.
  2. Using the Pinion Flange Holder (J-8614-01) to hold the transmission yoke, remove and discard the yoke nut. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove the yoke. Using Slide Hammer (J-6125-1B) and Universal Seal Remover (J-23129), remove the rear oil seal. See Figure.
