Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply a 2-3 mm (1/8 in) wide, by 0.5-1.5 mm (1/16 in) high bead of sealant, GM P/N 97720043 (Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent to the intake manifold.
  2. Fig 1: Determining Sealant Bead Dimensions

  3. Install the intake manifold.

  5. Install the intake manifold bolts/nuts.
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Tighten the intake manifold bolts/nuts in the sequence shown.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts/nuts to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).

  9. Install the intake manifold tube. Refer to Intake Manifold Tube Replacement (Federal Emissions)  or Intake Manifold Tube Replacement (California Emissions) .
  10. Install the left fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 in Engine Controls - 6.6 L.
  11. Install the turbocharger. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
