Removal Procedure

- Loosen the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.
- Remove the upper intake manifold cover from the outlet duct.
- Remove the upper intake manifold cover.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the right fender wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
- Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement - Upper (W/O M74) or Fan Shroud Replacement - Upper (W/M74) in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the oil fill tube. Refer to Oil Fill Tube Replacement .
- Remove the crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement .
- Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (6.6L (LB7) Engine) in Engine Cooling.
- Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the CMP sensor bolt and sensor.
- Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the CKP sensor bolt and sensor.
- Remove the CKP sensor spacer bolts and spacer.
- Remove and discard the O-rings from the CKP sensor and spacer.
- Remove the upper oil pan to engine front cover bolts.
- Remove the turbocharger coolant feed pipe bracket bolts and bracket.
- Remove the engine front cover bolts.
- Separate the engine front cover from the cylinder block and upper oil pan using J 37228 .
- Remove the engine front cover.
- If necessary, remove the pressure relief valve O-ring.
- Clean and inspect the front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Cleaning and Inspection .
IMPORTANT:
Do not bend the turbocharger coolant pipe.
