Removal Procedure

- If equipped with a automatic transmission, remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (With 8.1L (L18) Engine) in Automatic Transmission - Allison.
- Remove the engine flywheel bolts.
- Remove the engine flywheel.
- If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.
- Remove the engine flywheel bolts.
- Remove the engine flywheel.
- Clean and inspect the engine flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Automatic Transmission) or Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Manual Transmission) .
