Diagnostic Procedures

- Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Start engine. Allow engine to reach normal operation temperature. Using scan tool, monitor specific DTC information for DTC P1372. If DTC P1372 sets, turn ignition off and go to step 4. If DTC P1372 does not set, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, observe and record FREEZE FRAME/FAILURE RECORDS data for this DTC. Turn ignition off for 30 seconds. Start engine. Operate vehicle within conditions for running the DTC or as close to recorded FREEZE FRAME/FAILURE RECORDS data as possible. See CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING DTC . If DTC resets, go to next step. If DTC does not reset, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, command TIME MODE B. Start engine. Raise and support vehicle. Wiggle CKP sensor wiring harness and connector. CKP sensor is located above starter motor and has a 6-pin connector. Using scan tool, monitor specific DTC information for DTC P0385. If DTC P0385 sets, go to DTC P0385: CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR "B" CIRCUIT . If DTC P0385 does not set, turn ignition off and go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, command TIME MODE A. Ensure engine is still idling. Wiggle CKP sensor wiring harness and connector. Using scan tool, monitor specific DTC information for DTC P0335. If DTC P0335 sets, go to DTC P0335: CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT . If DTC P0335 does not set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off for 30 seconds. Start engine. Operate vehicle within conditions for running the DTC. See CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING DTC . If DTC runs and passes, go to next step. If DTC resets, go to step 2.
- Using scan tool, check for any other DTCs that are set. If no other DTCs are set, system is okay. If any other DTCs are set, repair DTCs as necessary. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
