Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2003 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the rear brake hose
- Install the junction block retaining bolt to the axle.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
- Uncap or unplug the rear brake pipes and connect the pipes to the junction block on the axle.
Tighten: Tighten the fitting to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose into the bracket.
- Install the jounce hose retaining clip.
- Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting end.
- Connect the brake pipe fitting nut to the brake hose:
- Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting.
- Do not bend the bracket or the pipe.
Tighten: Tighten the fitting to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Ensure that the hose does not make contact with any part of the suspension. If the hose makes contact remove the hose and correct the condition.
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
- Lower the vehicle.
IMPORTANT:
The hose must not be twisted. Make sure the hose is not in contact with any suspension component.
