Removal Procedure

- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
- Remove the evaporator tube nut from the evaporator.
- Remove the evaporator tube from the evaporator.
- Loosen the nut from the evaporator tube fitting.
- Remove the rear evaporator tube (3) from the vehicle.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 5.3L.
- Remove the push pin from the right side radiator air baffle.
- Remove the bolts (2) from the starter/generator control module (SGCM) coolant pump (1).
- Reposition the SGCM coolant pump.
- Remove the right park/turn signal lamp. Refer to Park/Turn Signal Lamp Replacement (Old Style) .
- Remove the grille from the vehicle. Refer to Grille Replacement (GMC) or Grille Replacement (Chevrolet) .
- Remove the evaporator tube nut from the condenser.
- Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser.
- Remove the front evaporator tube from the vehicle.
- Discard all of the used sealing washers. Cap all of the open connections.
