Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the bumper filler from the vehicle.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the fasteners securing the filler panel to the headlamp bracket and the radiator support.

    Tighten:  Tighten the filler panel to the headlamp bracket and the radiator support to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  4. Install the fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Fog Lamp Replacement - Front in Lighting Systems.
  5. Install the air deflector to the bumper if necessary. Refer to Air Deflector Replacement - Front Bumper Fascia  .
  6. Position the front bumper assembly on the vehicle.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: Tighten the bolts in the following sequence.
  8. Install the retaining bolts (1, 2) to the front bumper.

    Tighten: 

    1. Tighten the bracket bolt (1) to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the bracket bolt (2) to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
    3. Tighten the brace bolt to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).

  10. Connect the electrical connector to the fog lamps, if equipped.

  12. Install the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement (GMC) or Grille Replacement (Chevrolet) in Exterior Trim.
