Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2003 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install the new brake cable (2) into the rear brake cable mounting bracket (3) by pushing the cable into place until the locking tabs (1) snap into place.

Install the park brake cable to the lever.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the rear park brake cable bracket bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the rear park brake cable bracket bolt to 61 N.m (45 lb ft).

Install the park brake cable and the bolt to the lower shock absorber mount.
Tighten: Tighten the park brake cable bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

Install the park brake cable taking care to correctly route the cable though the guides and the body mounts.

Pull down on the park brake cable in front of the equalizer and install the left park brake cable to the equalizer bar.

Remove the safety stands.
Lower the vehicle.
