Removal Procedure

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (without HP2) .
- Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the right engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement - Right in Engine Mechanical - 6.6L (LB7), or Engine Mount Replacement - Right in Engine Mechanical - 6.6L (LLY).
- Disconnect the engine coolant heater cord.
- Loosen the coolant heater bolt.
- Remove the engine coolant heater from the engine block.
- Do not score the machined surface of the hole.
- Grasp the plug with pliers.
- Pull the plug from the engine block.
- Clean the core plug hole in order to remove the following substances:
- Burrs
- Compound
- Paint
- Rough spots
