Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the license plate lamps. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (W/ STEP BUMPER) , LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (W/O STEP BUMPER) or LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (FILLER PANEL) in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  2. Remove the license plate screws from the bumper.
  3. Remove the step pad from the bumper. Refer to STEP PAD REPLACEMENT - REAR BUMPER (PICKUP)  or STEP PAD REPLACEMENT - REAR BUMPER (UTILITY) .
  4. Remove the nuts and the bolts that retain the bumper impact bar to the bumper brackets.

  5. Remove the bumper impact bar from the vehicle.
