Removal Procedure

  1. Lower the spare tire.
  2. Remove the rear tail lamp assemblies. Refer to TAIL LAMP REPLACEMENT (PICKUP) or TAIL LAMP REPLACEMENT (UTILITY) in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  3. Remove the bolts that retain the frame to the pickup box.

  4. Remove the wiring harness ground wire from the frame.
  5. Remove the license plate lamp. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (W/STEP BUMPER) or LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (W/O STEP BUMPER) or LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT (FILLER PANEL) in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  6. Remove the ground wire that retains the fuel filler neck to the pickup box.
  7. Remove the screws that retain the fuel filler neck to the pickup box.
  8. Remove the pickup box from the vehicle.
