Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the endgate torque rod. Refer to TORQUE ROD REPLACEMENT - END GATE .
  2. Remove the endgate opening sill trim plate in order to access the wiring harness connectors. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT - END GATE in INTERIOR TRIM article.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors, as needed.

  4. Disconnect the endgate window washer fluid hose.
  5. Safely support the endgate in the open position in order to remove the grommet from the endgate.
  6. Remove the endgate struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - END GATE  and SUPPORT CABLE REPLACEMENT - END GATE (UTILITY)  or SUPPORT CABLE REPLACEMENT - END GATE (PICKUP) .
  7. Remove the endgate spare tire reinforcement (if equipped).

  8. Remove the hinge pin retainers.

    Discard the hinge pin retainers.

  9. Remove the hinge pins from the right hinge.
  10. Remove the hinge pins from the left hinge.
  11. With an assistant, remove the endgate from the vehicle.
