Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle

Tools Required 

J 41352  Steering Column Holding Fixture

  1. Install the trim cover protector (1) to the lower trim cover (2).

  2. Install the upper trim cover (2).

  4. Install the TORX(tm) head screw (1) to the upper trim cover (2). Tighten the screw to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).

    Important:  The shift lever seal must seat correctly into the trim covers.

  5. Install the lower trim cover (1).

  7. Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (2) to the lower trim cover (1). Tighten the screws to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).
  8. Remove the steering column and J 41352  from the vise.
  9. Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement  .
  10. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement  .
  11. Install the tilt lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement - On Vehicle  .
  12. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
