Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle

Tools Required 

• J 23653-SIR  Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor
• J 42137  Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble - Off Vehicle  .
3. Remove the bearing retainer (1) using J 23653-SIR  and J 42137.

4. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft assembly:
   1. The shaft lock shield assembly (1)
   2. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (2)
   3. The upper bearing spring (3)
   4. The upper bearing inner race seat (4)
   5. The inner race (5)
